How to use Translate PDF
- Open the AI Studio and upload your PDF.
- Choose the target language.
- Review the side-by-side Translation Studio and edit any text.
- Export the translated PDF.

In your browser
On-device translation in recent Chrome; otherwise text is sent to Google Translate (you are told first). No account, no limit.
Advanced AI
OCR plus the MADLAD-400 translation model on our private GPU server: scanned pages, 450+ languages, no third parties.
Privacy and where your file is processed
Browser mode uses your browser's built-in on-device translator when it has one (recent Chrome), so nothing leaves your device. Other browsers send the text blocks (never the file) to Google Translate, and the page tells you before it happens. Advanced AI mode: needs a free account, runs on our own private GPU server (not a cloud AI provider), is never used for training or shared with third parties, and the upload and result are deleted automatically after processing.
Free usage limits
Free to use. In your browser: no account, no file-size limit and no usage limit. Advanced AI mode (our private GPU server): free account with 150 credits a month (1 credit per page for OCR and PDF to Word), files up to 50 MB and 100 pages. There is no paid tier.
Frequently asked questions
Is my document sent to a third party?
Only in browser mode on browsers without an on-device translator, and only the text blocks go to Google Translate. Use recent Chrome or Advanced AI mode to keep everything off third-party services.
Is machine translation perfect?
No. Always review the side-by-side view and correct terminology before you rely on the result.
Can I translate scanned PDFs?
Yes, after AI OCR has detected the text on the page.
